Travel Insurance Tips

Travel Insurance is really important, but unfortunately also can be really expensive. Before going away we did a lot of research as to which provided the best cover at the best price.

Whilst researching we noticed that a lot of standard travel insurance only covers between 1 to 3 month periods out of the UK. Therefore for our journey of 6 months we needed a specialist travel insurance to cover us and our antics!

We also found that depending on the level of cover you have, some activities arent covered such as sky diving, jet skiing and even camel riding. This means that even with insurance, if you hurt yourself (or someone else) whilst doing these activities your insurance could be void.

We ultimatelty decided to go with True Traveller Insurance, which is underwritten by AXA. We also opted for the adventure pack to cover activities we knew we wanted to do, which weren’t covered on the basic plan.

After we purchased it, we made sure to save all the policy documents on our phones, and also save the claims helpline number with the policy number added to the notes. This is just as important as getting the right cover, as there’s no point having great insurance if you’re not able to contact them.

All in all, travel insurance is expensive but a necessity to travel safely. Always make sure you research the policy which suits you and your plans best. Once you have bought it, also make sure to have all the documents, numbers and details you need to contact them in an emergency. This is just as important as getting the right cover!
